Here are a few things we have been up to at Mendip Green this week…
The EYFS children are feeling very festive. They have been getting crafty and playing some festive games. They finished the week off with a class party! Merry Christmas everyone! 🎅 🎄
Year 1 children have been writing about their Christmas performance.
Year 2 have been brilliant engineers of 'Baby Bear's chairs' this week in DT. They have worked together to design, build and evaluate their structure. Can you spot which chair is the most stable?
Year 3 have become animators and created their very own animation in the iMotion app. They made their own characters and backgrounds and made sure to keep the camera very still! They have seen just how much time and effort go into creating real animations!
Year 4 have showed off their sewing skills this week and have created beautiful book sleeves!
Year 5 have unleashed their inner Spielberg's. They have made some fantastic video book reviews, having looked at filming techniques and story boarding. Expect a call from the Oscars any day now!
Year 6 have been enjoying doing some English writing about the Grinch!
Blossom PM had a lovely time following instructions whilst making gingerbread. We rolled, squeezed and used cookie cutters to make lots of fun Christmas shapes. ⭐🎄

Here are a few things we have been up to at Mendip Green this week…
Taking it easy on the wind down to Christmas? Not in EYFS! This week we have started work on learning how to write letters correctly and the results have been awesome. Some work has been in books but sand and paint have also been super helpful. We'll be writing to Santa before you know it!
Year 1 have been getting ready for their special Christmas Dinner day by making these wonderful hats! They have coloured, cut and stuck them together all by themselves and are ready to feast on delicious turkey in style!
In Year 2, the children are continuing to learn and apply spelling rules.
Year 3 have been learning about the life cycle of a plant in science. They have a fantastic understanding of pollination, fertilisation and germination. This week they learnt about the different ways seeds can be dispersed.
Year 4 have started their new history topic on Roman Britain. This week, they learned that Emperor Claudius was the first Roman Emperor to successfully conquer Brittania.
Year 5 have been busy rehearsing ready for next week. Their crib service, so far, has managed to bring Mrs Sandford to tears twice (in a good way!).
This week, Year 6 have been using Tinkercad to create 3D houses using only basic shapes. Their creativity blew us away!
In the HLRB, the children made some Christmas crafts. They also had a delicious hot chocolate and a biscuit. Happy Christmas everyone.
The children in Acorn group have been very busy working together, decorating their Christmas tree. Next week they will be busy making lots of Christmas crafts so watch out for all the glitter coming home.

A huge shout out to our incredible girl footballers who have represented the school with such enthusiasm and pride this year and to Mr Edwards who is an absolute bastion for primary sports, of all kinds. He has been a champion for girls sports and has encouraged and motivated so many of our girls to try new sports and believe in themselves.
